Convergence Check Phase-Field Scheme for Modelling of Brittle and Ductile Fractures

The paper proposes a novel staggered phase-field framework for modelling brittle and ductile fractures in monotonic cyclic loading regimes. algorithm consists of two mesh layers (displacement phase field) single special-purpose, user-defined finite element, which controls global convergence the coupled problem passing solution variables between layers. proposed is implemented into FE software ABAQUS. For high fatigue, cycle-skipping scheme also introduced. methodology verified on usual benchmark examples. Small-strain theory applied, but it has been demonstrated that extension to large strains straightforward using only ABAQUS built-in option. efficiency stability was proven by comparison computational time number iterations per increment RCTRL scheme.
